A happy learning environment
Tambelin is an independent primary school centrally located in a quiet residential setting in the heart of Goulburn.
The school caters for primary age children and is modelled on a small school with a maximum enrolment of 32.
We believe children thrive in a secure, friendly environment where children of all ages learn, interact and play together.
Tambelin runs two multi-age learning groups – Kindergarten to Year 2 and Year 3 to Year 6.
The limited enrolment at Tambelin keeps our learning environment child focused and flexible, with a generous teacher to student ratio.
Tambelin is a memorable beginning to a lifelong process of learning and development. Our structure and size provide a happy learning environment that fosters friendships, opportunities and a sense of belonging.
We are an active member of the Australian Independent Schools (AIS) network and fully Government Accredited. Tambelin follows the NSW Board of Studies Primary Schools Curriculum as well as many extra curricular activities (available from Kindergarten).
Tambelin has a Parent-representative governing body and welcomes parental involvement.
We focus on creatively developing strong foundation skills in literacy, numeracy and technology and encourage children to use these skills both confidently and competently.
Tambelin is a non-denominational school with a philosophy of developing values, awareness and respect for the local environment, community and all cultures – a ‘world view’.
Small Size
At our small school:
- all children and staff know your child’s name (as do most of the parents) – your child is recognised, valued and safe;
- your child makes friends and is confident mixing with children of all ages;
- lessons and activities are dynamic and spontaneous, responding to current events and class interests;
- respect, mentoring and a culture of equality occur naturally as children learn and play together;
- children identify as part of a cooperative group rather than isolated individual year groups;
- we focus on each child individually, and dynamically adjust their learning experience according to aptitude and interest;
- each individual child reaches their academic potential at their own rate in a supportive environment, and talented students are identified and developed early;
- your child becomes familiar with the curriculum, learning processes and environment of their future years.
Huge Opportunities
With the benefits of small size there is no compromise on facilities or opportunities:
- welcoming, fully equipped classrooms;
- dedicated technology room with one computer per child,and specialist-run classes in computer science from Kindergarten;
- on site playground and play equipment;
- foreign language classes (Mandarin, French) from Kindergarten;
- frequent excursions (for eg Goulburn Art Gallery, Questacon, Portrait Gallery, Parliament House, Taronga Zoo “Roar & Snore” Overnight Camping…) and specialist-run activities including music lessons;
- an active sports program, including swimming and tennis with opportunities to compete at state level;
- access to the adjacent tennis court and recreation ground for sporting activities;
- extensive library;
- student kitchen.
