About our Teaching Staff
Tambelin's teaching staff are a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to ensuring that children get the most from their learning experience. Staff identify and focus on each child's needs to ensure that they are able to flourish in a safe, caring and nurturing environment. We approach each child as an individual both academically and emotionally. Much care and time is taken to cater for the specific needs and abilities of each child, so that they have the opportunity to reach their potential in a happy learning environment.
Staff are constantly updating their skills through professional development courses offered through the Association of Independent School and courses offered locally that enhance our professional education. We engage a variety of approaches to keep learning interesting and effective for the children. Tambelin, like other schools, follows the Board of Studies curriculum, with additional focus on English and Maths. We feel strongly about equipping children with resources to foster a life long love of learning. This variety gives all staff the inspiration and enthusiastic approach to learning. The small size and communicative nature of the school allow staff to be dynamic and creative in approaching all key learning areas.
Juniors K - Year 2
Catherine Harborne (Principal)
Catherine has been at Tambelin since 1994. Catherine teaches the juniors on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and has been the principal since the beginning of 2008. Catherine’s commitment and dedication to the school and students is exceptional.
Michelle McIntosh
Michelle has been part of the Tambelin team since the beginning of 2008. Michelle teaches in the junior room on Monday & Tuesday. Her wonderful caring nature and sense of humour is an asset to the school.
Natalie Wade
Natalie is a teacher’s assistant primarily in the Junior room. Nat became a part of Tambelin’s staff at the beginning of 2009. Nat demonstrates a wonderful, enthusiastic commitment to work and has organised the Premier’s Reading Challenge at Tambelin and teachers the children gymnastics.
Seniors - Years 3 - 6
Melanie Winkler (Seniors)
Melanie is a full time Teacher in the Senior room. She has been teaching at Tambelin since the beginning of 2008. Mel has organised Book club, seniors camp, tennis, NAPLAN and The Australian Mathematics competition. Her enthusiasm and commitment to the school is second to none.
Sharon Alessi
Sharon started at Tambelin in Term 3 2008, as a Teacher’s assistant in the Senior room. Sharon comes with many years of experience in the area of working in small schools as a Teacher’s assistant. Sharon organises and takes great pride in our school Library. Sharon has a wonderful repertoire with all students and has a great sense of humour.
Specialist-run - Extra-curricular classes
David Edworthy
David arrives at school every Tuesday to take small groups of children for computers, “Computopia”. Dynamic David enthusiastically inspires all our children to be confident computer operators. Children look forward enthusiastically to “Tuesday”.
Yujing Guo
Yujing comes to Tambelin after school to provide children with lessons in Mandarin language. Yujing is a language (Mandarin) teacher at Mullwaree high school in Goulburn. Her program offers children a variety of skills related to everyday use of Mandarin, utilising informal, inclusive group activities, audio/visual songs and cues.
Tracey Stinson
Tracy comes to Tambelin each Monday to give the children a taste and experience in the French Language. Her enthusiastic approach and rapid French linguistic skills has us all buzzing with excitement.
